On 25th and 26th August 2022, members of the CERCOM consortium will attend the CERI/ITRN Conference 2022 in Dublin, presenting the project which is funded by The Conference of European Road Directors (CEDR). The conference, being held jointly by the Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) and the Irish Transportation Research Network (ITRN), will gather leading academics and practitioners working in the area of civil engineering and transport research and will be hosted by TU Dublin and Trinity College Dublin.
Members of RDS will attend the conference on behalf of the CERCOM consortium and present the paper entitled “CERCOM – Adoption of the Circular Economy in Road Construction”. The presentation will discuss the objectives of CERCOM and the development of the Risk Based Analysis Framework. Key developments and a sample application of the framework will be outlined.
The CERI/ITRN Conference will include multiple themes including Transport, Energy, Structures, Environment and Sustainable Cities and Climate Action. Members of RDS will present within the Environment stream on the second day of the conference. Other topics to be discussed within the Environment stream include “Timber construction in Ireland for the mitigation of climate change and the housing crisis in 2022” and “Sustainability Analysis of a Pedestrian Bridge made from Repurposed Wind Turbine Blades”. RDS will take the opportunity to engage with other leading experts in the field and exchange ideas and progress made in relation to the move from a linear approach towards more circular economy and more sustainable practices within the civil engineering and transport sectors.
